Some Jobs Aren't Worth It...
It all started with that job offer. I was fresh out of college and ready to take on the world cause I knew I was smarter than them all. I wasn’t exactly a genius, but anything I didn’t know, I could quickly figure out. Sometimes I wouldn’t figure it out until after the test though, getting low scores on tests happened a lot with me and I guess that’s what got me into this whole mess.
Having graduated college, all anyone ever saw was my low grades. No one wanted me for jobs that were interesting, the ones that required me to actually think! I wasn’t worried though, I’ve always been able to figure out a way
Welcome to Haven!
Glass building tower majestically before you.
The bright streets beckon to you.
This is a place you can live in for the rest of your life.
Here there is work for everyone.
No matter who you are, or what you can do,
We can surely find a place for you.
Here there are no homeless.
We help those who fall on hard times.
We'll keep you steady until you're back on your feet.
Here there is no crime.
Our security sees everything,
You are safe at all times.
We provide for all who are willing to work.
Anyone can rise to success, if they try hard.
Just give it your best and we'll provide the rest.
So come to our city, al
Welcome to Wonderland!
A maelstrom of lights, a whirlpool of sounds.
This sprawling city waits for you.
Every corner has something to see or do.
Every venue holds a new wonder.
Over here lights meander in shapes of words.
Proclaiming where you can go and what you can do.
Over there you can get the most wondrous of foods,
Sumptuous treats that melt on your tongue.
Turn a corner and a man offers you magic charms,
To ward off evil and to enrich your life.
Down the street, a woman offers to fulfill your dreams,
As she twirls ribbons and lifts her veil suggestively.
Wander into any building, explore where you will.
In here you can gi
Beware Scylla
Haven promises many things.
Haven delivers on all of them.
But be careful, because what's more important
Is what Haven doesn't promise not to do.
Haven promises you safety.
Scylla does not promise happiness.
Haven promises you security.
Scylla does not promise freedom.
The price for safety is taxes.
He taxes you for food you eat.
He taxes you for your thoughts.
He taxes you for your life.
The instant you step into this city, the trap will close.
Because Scylla taxed you to see his city from afar.
And now that he has you inside his hold,
He will insist that you pay your debts.
There is work for everyone because e
Beware Charybdis
It calls itself Wonderland.
It calls itself the Casino Town.
It calls itself the best place around.
I call it none of these things.
I call it only what it is.
I call it by its true name: Charybdis.
There are no dreams to be found here,
No wonders to behold.
I'll tell you what you'll find instead.
Inside, a man tells you he is sure to win,
as he pulls a lever with empty eyes.
This man was once like you.
Outside, a skeleton clutches at you,
Pleading for coin or powder to fuel his need.
This man also was once like you.
Yes, fortunes are made in the blink of an eye,
But debts are made far more often.
If you look
Stay in the Country
This road you follow leads to nowhere.
But instead passes through danger.
To the left lies Haven, which towers high.
To the right is Wonderland, which sprawls out wide.
One has everything you need, but nothing you want.
One has everything you want, but nothing you need.
A choice between Scylla and Charybdis is no choice at all.
So stay in the country.

Will You Go Out With Me?
“As your best friend, I advise you to burn this and never try poetry again.” Chris informed me as he examined my latest plan to woo the ever beautiful Cindy Cinders.
I grabbed the paper from his unresisting hands and retorted, “Pfft, you're just jealous of my skills. Just watch, Cindy will love it.”
Chris rolled his eyes at me. “Right, 'cause she looooved those other letters you left in her locker. Only reason she didn't reject you to your face right away is 'cause you never actually put 'From Sam' on the notes.”
I frowned. Chris never had any confidence in my charismatic abilities. Just because no girl
"If you want to something to be stronger, you must temper it,” my master told me once. “You heat it up, work it to where it needs to be, and let it cool long enough to accept what you've done before starting over again.”
He often talked like the things he created were alive, as if the horseshoe he made had wanted to be a hammer and needed to 'accept' that it would be something else. I may only have been an apprentice, and only of my fifteenth summer at that, but I knew that metal was metal and not really alive. To think otherwise was just to pretend, like games little children played.
Much like the games my little brothers

A friend of mine recently inadvertantly convinced me to make an account here to post some of the short stories I've written. Maybe I'll go into art and photos later, but for now I'll be putting up some old work of mine from the past few years. We'll see where this goes.
